The U.S. Increases Support for Afghanistan

The United States intends to devote an additional $10.6 billion to security and reconstruction operations in Afghanistan, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice announced January 26.

Secretary Rice is also calling on the international community to redouble its efforts to help the Afghan people rebuild their lives, and enable the Government of Afghanistan to extend sound and accountable governance.
