On September 24, 2007, First Lady Laura Bush hosted a Global Health and Literacy luncheon, where she was introduced by U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. In her remarks, Mrs. Bush described the results of the September 2006 White House Conference on Global Literacy, including UNESCO's regional literacy conferences in Qatar, China and Mali, and outlined some of the upcoming conferences UNESCO plans. She also addressed global education and health challenges for the twenty first century.
