U.S. Contributions to Developing Countries
UNESCO plays a critical role in the promotion of education and sustainable development. By addressing the roots of the problems that plague developing countries, such as lack of education, UNESCO encourages long-term progress and economic growth. The United States leads the developed world in helping developing nations through free trade, official development assistance, humanitarian aid, reconstruction assistance, debt forgiveness, and promoting contacts with the private sector. Both the United States and UNESCO aim to facilitate sustainable development in poor countries.
