U.S. Mission to UNESCO Celebrates Three Decades of Support for the World Heritage Convention
On September 14, 2005 the U.S. Mission to UNESCO hosted a reception at the historic Hôtel de Talleyrand to celebrate three decades of support for the World Heritage Convention. The Honorable Russell E. Train, a key drafter of the landmark 1973 World Heritage Convention, was the Mission's special guest.

The reception was co-hosted by the World Monuments Fund whose special guest was Olivia Alison of the Thomas Jefferson Foundation. Jefferson's Monticello is one of the twenty sites in the United States that have been inscribed on the list of World Heritage Sites under the 1973 Convention. The World Monuments Funds is a major donor to the restoration of the Hôtel de Talleyrand.

The evening underscored the varied and ongoing support of the United States for cultural heritage, not only in America, but also around the world.
